Photo exhibition in Geneva offers a closer look at Vietnam’s culture and society

VOV.VN - The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva hosted a photo exhibition titled “Vietnam – a Dynamic and Aspirational Nation” at the Mission’s headquarters on December 12 to mark Vietnam’s election as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.

The exhibition drew wide participation from ambassadors, heads and deputy heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of numerous member states of the Human Rights Council, as well as human rights experts and Vietnam’s partners in Geneva, thus showing the international community’s interest in and support for Vietnam as it prepares to assume its upcoming role on the Council.

Opening the exhibition, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to Geneva, said the event offered a vivid introduction to Vietnam as a country of rich cultural diversity, a society with a strong identity, dynamic development and a steadfast commitment to a people-centered approach.

He stated that through images of nature, culture, social life and the Vietnamese people, the exhibition helps international audiences gain a clearer understanding of the cultural and social foundations, as well as the values Vietnam brings to its participation and contributions at the UN Human Rights Council.

The exhibition was organized around four main thematic groups, reflecting key aspects of Vietnam’s development journey: nature and green innovation; spiritual life and cultural diversity; heritage preservation linked with inclusive development; and national capacity-building in health care, education and social welfare.

Many of the featured images highlight UNESCO-recognized natural and cultural heritage, the daily lives of ethnic communities, spiritual and religious practices, along with Vietnam’s efforts in sustainable development, climate change adaptation and improving people’s quality of life.

Through the event, Vietnam also reaffirmed its spirit of cooperation, dialogue and responsibility during its 2026-2028 term of Human Rights Council membership, with a focus on promoting constructive cooperation, respect for diversity, advancing human rights in conjunction with the right to development, and enhancing the effectiveness and inclusiveness of UN human rights mechanisms.

The photo exhibition serves as a meaningful cultural diplomacy activity, helping project the image of Vietnam as a peaceful, dynamic and open country, and as a proactive and responsible partner in the international community’s joint efforts for peace, sustainable development and respect for human rights.
