Turandot concert brings international classical artists to Hanoi
VOV.VN - “Turandot Concert 2026” took place at the Vietnam National Academy of Music on May 27, bringing together renowned professors, conductors and performers for an evening of European-inspired symphonic and operatic performances.
The concert was part of “The Four Turandot - T4T,” an international research and performance project supported by the European Union. It was attended by the Ambassadors of the European Union and Poland, along with representatives from the Czech Republic.
The event featured an impressive lineup of artists and educators, including conductor Matteo Parmeggiani, Professor Giuseppe Modugno — director of the Vecchi-Tonelli Conservatory of Modena, Professor Vsevolod Dvorkin, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuong and pianist My Dung. Vietnamese opera artists soprano Dao To Loan and baritone Nguyen Khac Hoa also performed.
Opening the programme, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Della Seta emphasised the role of art and music in strengthening cultural connections between nations. He praised the collaboration between international artists, the Vietnam National Academy of Music, and the Modena Conservatory in bringing global artistic projects closer to Vietnamese audiences.
One of the evening’s highlights was a special arrangement of “Warsaw Concerto” for four pianos and symphony orchestra, introduced to Vietnamese audiences for the first time in a large-scale classical concert setting.
Under the baton of Matteo Parmeggiani, four pianists — Giuseppe Modugno, Vsevolod Dvorkin, Nguyen Huy Phuong and My Dung — delivered a technically sophisticated and emotionally charged performance. The interplay between the four grand pianos and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra created a powerful atmosphere in the concert hall, earning prolonged applause from the audience.

In addition to symphonic works, the concert presented famous opera excerpts by Puccini, Verdi, and Tchaikovsky through performances by Dao To Loan and Nguyen Khac Hoa, bringing a distinctly European classical music atmosphere to the heart of Hanoi.
Young Vietnamese musicians also made a strong impression during the programme. Pianist Nguyen Duc Kien attracted attention with a nearly 30-minute large-scale composition requiring advanced technical mastery and musical depth. His confident stage presence, fast-paced passages, and emotional interpretation were highly praised by the audience.
Meanwhile, young artist Dao Trong Nguyen Huy performed Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor with confidence and expressive musicality, earning warm support from concertgoers.
More than a concert performance, “Turandot Concert 2026” served as a cultural bridge between Vietnam and the international community, opening further opportunities for academic cooperation, training and artistic exchange among musicians, lecturers and music students.
