“Tết Bính Ngọ 2026” stamp set released with message of success
VOV.VN - To mark the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026 (the Lunar Year of the Horse), the Ministry of Science and Technology has officially released the “Tết Bính Ngọ” stamp set, comprising two stamps and one souvenir sheet, conveying a message of success for the New Year.
The set carries the traditional greeting “Ma dao thanh cong” (a New Year wish for success).
Featuring the horse- a symbol of perseverance, strength and good fortune in East Asian culture, the stamp set is presented in a contemporary folk-art style. The two stamps depict a pair of horses, a white horse and a purple-red horse, carrying festival drums to welcome spring, symbolising harmony between yin and yang.
When combined, the two stamps form a balanced composition that conveys a new journey marked by progress and success. The image of the two horses bowing to each other also reflects a spirit of humility and cordiality, highlighting the atmosphere of togetherness during Tet.
The souvenir sheet portrays a herd of eight horses galloping forward, with the central image of a “thien ly ma” (thousand-mile steed) adorned with phoenix wings, symbolising aspirations to move forward and achieve success. Within the herd, one horse turning back to encourage the one behind it conveys a message of companionship and shared success.
This is the seventh Tet stamp set designed by artist Nguyen Quang Vinh. According to the designer, each Tet stamp set is not only a work of visual art but also an effort to renew and carry forward traditional cultural values through contemporary visual language.
In 2025, as part of efforts to promote major national events, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued four commemorative stamp sets marking the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the 100th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press, the 80th anniversary of National Day, and the 80th anniversary of the first general election of the National Assembly.
