Photo Hanoi’25 – Biennale highlights global photography and creative exchange
VOV.VN - The second edition of Photo Hanoi’25 – Biennale opened on November 1 at the Old Quarter Cultural Center in Hanoi, bringing together artists, curators, and experts from 22 countries for exhibitions, workshops, and talks that explore memory, identity, nature, urban life, and the world.
Photo Hanoi’25 – Biennale is organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the French Institute in Hanoi, with the support of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi and other partner organizations. The event aims to gradually establish Photo Hanoi – Biennale as a leading international cultural and artistic event in the capital, with regional and global relevance.
This year’s edition brings together artists, curators, and experts from 22 countries, featuring 22 exhibitions and 29 side events across the city. Through exhibitions, workshops, panels, and meet ups, audiences can not only admire photographic works but also engage with dialogues exploring memory, identity, nature, urban life, and the world.
In her opening speech, Bach Lien Huong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, said, “This year’s event is organized on a larger scale than previous editions, with diverse and engaging activities. All activities create a vibrant international photography festival, leaving a strong impression in Hanoi.
This demonstrates the strong commitment and determination of the French Embassy to continuously promote and foster cultural cooperation between the French Republic and, with the support of participating embassies, international organizations, and foreign cultural centers in Vietnam. Hanoi highly values the collaboration of the French Embassy and related partners, and always prioritizes strengthening cultural exchange between Hanoi, the French Republic, and other countries and international partner organizations.”
Jonathan Baker, Head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam, highlighted that Photo Hanoi’25 – Biennale shows Hanoi’s vision as a UNESCO Creative City, where creativity extends beyond institutional boundaries to be lived, experienced, and shared throughout urban life. He said that the event shows how artists, communities, authorities, and international partners working together can create a vibrant, open, and inclusive cultural space.
