Photo Hanoi’25 brings global photographers to capital city this November

VOV.VN - The international photography biennale, Photo Hanoi’25, is set to take place from November 1 to 30 across the capital, featuring more than 170 artists, photographers, experts, and curators from 21 countries, with the support of 25 professional organisations.

The information was released at a press conference held on October 22 by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the French Institute in Vietnam, marking the return of one of Vietnam’s largest contemporary photography festivals.

Speaking at the press conference, Bach Lien Huong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, noted that the event highlights Hanoi’s commitment to advancing cultural initiatives within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, fostering artistic diversity and international collaboration.

“Photo Hanoi’25 demonstrates the city’s determination to promote creative projects that strengthen cultural exchange and integration between Hanoi and the wider world,” Huong remarked.

Exhibitions will take place not only in cultural venues such as 45 Trang Tien, 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, and 22 Hang Buom, but also at art centres and familiar creative hubs including the French Institute in Vietnam, Japan Foundation, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Casa Italia), and Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA).

Public installations will also appear in iconic spaces around Hanoi, including Dien Hong Flower Garden, the Hoan Kiem Lake promenade, and the walls of the Temple of Literature (Quoc Tu Giam).

The Director of the French Institute in Vietnam, Eric Soulier, stressed that the 2025 edition of Photo Hanoi marks a new milestone, attracting more than 170 artists from around the world to participate in a diverse lineup of events.

He said this year’s programme stands out for both the quality and diversity of its activities, reflecting the growing international stature of Photo Hanoi.

This year’s biennale will present 22 solo and group exhibitions alongside a series of accompanying programmes, including art tours, seminars, and photography workshops.

Since its debut in 2021, Photo Hanoi has drawn strong public interest, attracting over 170,000 visitors, generating more than 200 media articles, and reaching 5 million social media views across its first two editions in 2021 and 2023.
