Nearly 100 masterpieces of global and Vietnamese art go on show in HCMC
VOV.VN - The Maison de Lumière – House of Light exhibition opened at the Revolutionary Tradition House in Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City on April 21, featuring nearly 100 works by renowned Vietnamese and international painters.
The exhibition presents representative works by globally renowned artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso. A key highlight is the dialogue between these international masterpieces and works by artists from the Indochina Fine Arts School.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Quoc Huy, deputy director of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Libraries under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasised that the event not only celebrates Vietnamese culture but also reinforces the creative contributions of local artists. A dedicated space has been arranged to showcase domestic works alongside global masterpieces.
According to Tran Thi Bich Van, vice chairwoman of the Vung Tau ward People’s Committee, the city is prioritising tourism and service development while aiming to build an open cultural environment that fosters emotional connection and artistic exchange.
The art show is expected to support sustainable growth by harmonising cultural enrichment with economic development.
Artist Dang Viet from the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association described the exhibition as an innovative model, noting that its large scale offers valuable organisational insights while enhancing the public’s cultural experience.
The exhibition will run until May 25.
