Meet Me at the Eclipse set for screening in US this May
VOV.VN - Vietnamese romance “Hẹn em ngày nhật thực” (Meet Me at the Eclipse) will make its debut in the US from May 8, marking its first international screening, film director Le Thien Vien announced.
“Thanks to the love of millions of audiences, the film will continue its journey to the United States on the occasion of Mother’s Day, as a gentle message about love, memories, and the things we have not yet said to our loved ones,” the director said, sharing about this milestone.
Directed by Le Thien Vien and produced by Ly Minh Thang, the film uses a 1995 solar eclipse as its central metaphor, tracing the journey of a woman who discovers a cache of unsent love letters and travels back to her rural hometown, where a reunion with her first love forces a reckoning with the past she never fully closed, according to US entertainment magazine Variety.
The film stars Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 Doan Thien An and actor Khuong Le in the lead roles, along with People's Artist Le Khanh, actor Thanh Son, actresses Huynh Phuong, Nguyen Thao, and others.
Since its theatrical release, the film has received positive audience feedback and topped the box office for three consecutive weeks.
To date, the film has grossed over VND104 billion, becoming the 6th Vietnamese film to join the VND100 billion club in 2026, after Thỏ ơi (Bunny) (VND449 billion), Nhà ba tôi một phòng (A Room Called Home) (VND110 billion), Báu vật trời cho (A Gift From Heaven) (VND103 billion), Tài (Tai) (VND113 billion), and Quỷ nhập tràng 2 (The Corpse 2) (VND133 billion).
In addition, soundtrack songs such as “Chi Chung Do Thoi” and “Hen Uoc Xin Khuat Loi” have also gained wide popularity on social media.
