Lotus painting representing Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups sets national record

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Record Association (VietKings) has officially recognised a large-scale lotus-themed colouring artwork representing Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups as a national record, marking the project with the highest participation of students from different ethnic groups across multiple provinces.

The artwork is part of a year-long music and charity project initiated by Vietnamese singer Phuc Anh, which began in mid-2024. The project was inspired by her vision of using music and creative activities to connect communities and celebrate Vietnam’s cultural diversity.

Over the past more than a year, Phuc Anh and her team travelled across dozens of provinces, from mountainous areas in Tuyen Quang to the central regions of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Quang Tri, and onward to southern and Mekong Delta provinces. They reached communities of the Kinh in the lowlands, the Cham along the coast, and ethnic minority groups such as Hmong, Dao, Thai, Tay, and O Du.

In each locality, singer Phuc Anh and children from different ethnic groups painted the picture of lotus flowers. Every petal carries a unique colour, symbolising the cultural identity, pride, and spirit of solidarity. The completed artwork, finalised after more than a year, stands as a vivid testament to connection beyond geographical and cultural boundaries.

According to VietKings, every contribution was verified through confirmations from local governments and educational institutions. The record, it noted, is not measured by size or technique alone, but by its profound humanitarian message and cultural significance.

Following the record announcement, the lotus painting was auctioned, with all proceeds dedicated to educational support programmes for students from Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups across the country.
