Local singer wins top prize at Asia Pacific International Arts Festival
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Gen Z singer Dam Thuy Tien has gained recognition as a versatile young performer after winning a gold prize for a traditional music ensemble performance at the Asia Pacific International Arts Festival (APIAF).
The young singer, performing alongside the NBK Art band, secured the top award for a traditional instrumental piece featuring the T’rung, a bamboo xylophone-like instrument of Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Her performance impressed judges with its confidence, technical precision and professional stage presence, as well as seamless coordination with the ensemble. The act was praised for its artistic quality, emotional expression and refined musical interpretation.
Tien is known as a multi-talented Gen Z artist active across a wide range of disciplines, including singing, modern instruments (piano, guitar and drums), traditional instruments like the T’rung, as well as dance, acting and stage performance. Her versatility has positioned her as part of a new generation of Vietnamese performers blending traditional cultural elements with contemporary artistic expression.
The Asia Pacific International Arts Festival is an annual international event that honours outstanding achievements in performing arts, music and youth talent development. Held in Chengdu, China, the festival attracted thousands of artists, contestants and judges from more than 25 countries, underscoring its growing reputation and influence across the regional and global arts community.
Prior to her success at APIAF, Tien had drawn attention through major artistic programmes alongside singer Tung Duong. She was also awarded first runner-up at the Vietnam Music Talent competition and has appeared in several television programmes.
