First prize for Vietnam at International Student Media Arts Festival
VOV.VN - Students from Van Lang University have brought home first prize at the sixth International Student Media Arts Festival (ISMA 2025) which closed in Ho Chi Minh City on July 29.

The winning work "Used to Be Green" was produced by Ngo Quoc Khang, Nguyen Tran Gia Bao, and Huynh Phuong Vy, a group of students majoring in digital design at Van Lang University. Their project won first place in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Narrative category.
Held from July 25 to 29, ISMA 2025 showcased 121 submissions from 37 universities across eight countries, namely the Republic of Korea, Japan, the United States, France, Thailand, China, Iran, and Vietnam. Students competed in four main categories - Short Films, Animation Art, Interactive Art, and AI Narrative.
The organising committee announced 36 outstanding works, including four first prizes, nine second prizes, 15 third prizes, and eight special awards. The four first-place winners, representing Vietnam, China, and the United States, demonstrated diverse and innovative approaches to contemporary art.
Phan Quan Dung, head of the ISMA 2025’s organising committee, said that the annual event was to honour young film talents, foster cultural exchange, and encourage creativity among students worldwide.
Centered around the theme “Environment, Rivers, and People,” the festival invited young creatives to express their visions through a range of genres and artistic formats. Dung highlighted that the event offers a platform for students to share fresh and insightful perspectives on global issues.
This year marked a milestone for Vietnam, both as the host country for the first time and as a top award recipient, with 10 awards going to students from Van Lang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema.
