Largest southern cake festival to showcase signature dishes
VOV.VN - The 12th Traditional Cake Festival, the largest of its kind in southern Vietnam, is set to take place in Can Tho City from April 4 to April 8, offering a showcase of the region’s most distinctive savory and sweet treats.
The festival will feature around 250 stalls, introducing visitors to a variety of folk cakes, regional specialties, fresh fruits, tourism products, and ornamental trees from across the southern provinces and cities.
A key highlight of the event will be the opening ceremony on April 4, where artisans will craft traditional cakes as offerings for the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day.
Beyond the culinary showcase, the festival will also host a range of engaging activities, including a food court serving additional southern delicacies and traditional folk games. Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch live cooking demonstrations and witness artisans competing in a culinary contest.
Last year’s festival attracted an impressive 870,000 visitors. One of the standout moments was a performance by 13 local artisans who crafted a three-meter-long bánh xèo (Vietnamese sizzling rice crepe), captivating both locals and tourists alike.
