Koviet Sinawi 2025 concert tightens Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange
VOV.VN - The 2025 KOREA X VIETNAM Traditional Musical Exchange Concert (Koviet Sinawi) opened at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, on October 10, drawing students and young audiences eager to experience and learn about Korea’s traditional music and culture.

Sinawi is a traditional Korean musical genre rooted in improvisation and spiritual rituals. Embracing this essence, the concert was designed as a celebration of peace and harmony between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
Young audiences enjoyed a variety of engaging performances, including traditional folk arrangements such as Trống cơm (Cylindrical Drums), Qua cầu gió bay (Crossing the Windy Bridge), Sanarae, Korean film music, and medleys of folk songs like Gang gang sullae, Tứ quý (Four Seasons), Lý chim quyên (The Oriole’s Lament), and Jindo Arirang.
A highlight of the concert was the symphony Koviet Sinawi, performed collaboratively by Vietnamese and Korean artists. The symphony, composed of three movements—The Prayer, Đồng điệu phương Nam (Southern Harmony), and One Ware—blended traditional folk elements from both countries, leaving a strong impression on the audience.
The Koviet Sinawi concert is part of the "Korea - ASEAN Community Innovation Project", initiated by the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE). The project explores similarities and differences in the traditional music of the two countries and creatively combines them into unique symphonic works.
Launched in 2024, the project continues into 2025 with two concerts, with one at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, on October 10, and the other at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Hanoi, on October 15.
