Korean actor Jung Il-woo draws attention during Vietnam visit

VOV.VN - Well-known Korean actor Jung Il-woo has sparked buzz among Vietnamese fans after sharing photos from his recent trip to Hanoi, even jokingly inviting followers out for hotpot.

On his official social media account with more than 3.8 million followers, the actor uploaded a series of images captioned “Hello Hanoi,” which received tens of thousands of interactions within 24 hours, including many comments from Vietnamese fans.

The photos capture his casual strolls around Hoan Kiem Lake, a cultural and tourism landmark of the capital, as he explored the city’s streets and atmosphere.

Jung also delighted fans by sampling local cuisine, including stir-fried Phở, and visiting the long-established Phở Bat Dan (a Phở restaurant on Ba Dan street). His simple, down-to-earth moments earned widespread praise online.

In fan interactions, he further charmed audiences by playfully suggesting a hotpot meet-up, highlighting his friendly and approachable personality.

Dressed in a simple yet stylish outfit, the actor was seen smiling, waving and engaging warmly with fans on Hanoi’s streets, reinforcing his positive image among Vietnamese audiences.

This marked his third visit to Vietnam. In 2024, he spent 11 days travelling across the country, including a stop in Hoi An ward, Da Nang city, where he met Miss Vietnam 2018 Tran Tieu Vy.

Each visit has strengthened his connection with local fans, thanks to his openness and interest in Vietnamese culture. Known for roles in sitcom High Kick, Jung remains popular across Asia for both his acting versatility and relatable public persona.

The growing visibility of international celebrities in Vietnam has been seen as contributing to cultural exchange and tourism promotion, particularly among Korean visitors.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the Republic of Korea was the second-largest source market in the first quarter, with around 1.33 million arrivals, following China with 1.4 million. In March 2026 alone, Vietnam welcomed more than 355,000 Korean visitors.

With strong momentum from air connectivity, visa policies and destination appeal, the Korean market is expected to be a key contributor to Vietnam’s tourism sector in 2026 and beyond.
