Jung Il Woo arrives in HCM City to promote Vietnam-Korea film
VOV.VN - Korean actor Jung Il Woo landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City to promote “Mang mẹ đi bỏ” (Leaving Mom), a co-production between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

Fans gathered in long lines at the airport, holding banners to welcome the actor in plain T-shirt and jeans. Jung was gifted a traditional Vietnamese conical hat and took time to take photos and sign autographs for his supporters.
The film is scheduled for official release in Vietnam on August 1, with early screenings beginning on July 30. According to CJ Entertainment, the film’s distributor, Jung will attend the premiere event in Ho Chi Minh City and participate in cinetours and a fan meeting.
Jung previously spent 10 days traveling across Vietnam in 2024. His deep interest in local culture and cuisine led Vietnamese fans to affectionately nickname him “Vietnamese son-in-law.” Coincidentally, this is also the type of character he portrays in “Leaving Mom.”
The film tells the emotional story of a mother-son bond between Hoan (played by Tuan Tran), a young street barber, and his mother Hanh (played by Hong Dao), who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. As her condition worsens, Hoan decides to take her to the Republic of Korea to entrust her to her former family.
Jung plays Jeong Min, Hanh’s kind-hearted Korean husband. His character represents the most beautiful chapter of Hanh’s life, and the film explores the pain and emotional toll of illness as she becomes a burden on her son.
Jung shared that he was deeply moved by the script and immediately wanted to join the project. “Vietnam and the RoK share a lot in terms of family values,” he said. “There haven’t been many collaborations like this between our countries. I hope this film marks a new beginning. We genuinely want to bring audiences a quality movie.”
Born in 1987 in Seoul, Jung Il Woo is well-known for his youthful and charming image. He gained widespread recognition both in the RoK and internationally through hit dramas such as Unstoppable High Kick!, 49 Days, Moon Embracing the Sun, and Cinderella and the Four Knights.
