King Ham Nghi’s paintings on display in Hue
VOV.VN - An exhibition displaying 21 paintings by King Ham Nghi opened at Kien Trung palace in the imperial Hue city for the first time on March 24.
The event was co-organised by Art Republik Vietnam magazine in collaboration with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the French Institute in Vietnam.
The exhibition, themed Sky, Mountain, Water, is showcasing paintings by King Ham Nghi gathered from 10 private collections.
King Ham Nghi was one of the first two Vietnamese artists trained in Western academic art techniques, making him a pioneer of modern Vietnamese fine arts.
His paintings reflect both artistic talent and deep patriotism, conveying his nostalgia for his homeland and a subtle resistance to oppression during his exile in Algeria under French rule.
The exhibition offers an opportunity for younger generations to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s history and cultural heritage, helping to reinforce the importance of preserving and promoting national art and historical values.
The exhibition is set to run until April 6, offering free admissions for visitors.
