K-pop rapper Jessi to give first performance in Vietnam

VOV.VN - K-pop rapper Jessi is set to perform for fans in Hanoi on August 31, the organisers of the music gala Happy Bee 13 recently announced.

Jessi is an American rapper, singer, and entertainer who was born in New York in the US before moving to the Republic of Korea (RoK) at the age of 15.

She originally debuted in the RoK in 2005 and was temporarily part of the hip hop group Uptown in 2006.

Several of her solo and collaborative singles have been commercially successful, including five Top 10 entries in the Gaon Digital Chart such as her highest-charting solo single "Nunu Nana" and the chart-topping single "Don't Touch Me" as part of the Refund Sisters.

Jessi is a prominent presence in Korean variety programmes, having achieved mainstream popularity as part of the first season of the Mnet hip hop competition show Unpretty Rapstar, where she finished in second place.

She released her first ever solo rap single "Ssenunni" on September 15, 2015. In 2017, Jessi released another rap single, "Gucci" from her first mini-album. In 2021, she released a new digital single titled "What Type of X".

Jessi's Instagram now had 13.4 million followers.

The K-pop star will join with Vietnamese artists including rapper Đen, Màu nước Band, rapper Pháo, and singer Hoang Dung for the music gala Happy Bee 13 to be held in Hanoi on August 31.
