Jason Derulo cancels Vietnam show at the last minute due to health issues

VOV.VN - Jason Derulo, a Grammy-nominated American singer, has cancelled his performance as part of the GAMA Music Racing Festival that took place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 28 evening.

Just hours before the performance, the festival organizers announced that Jason Derulo would not attend the show, citing health problems and an intense schedule from his “The Last Dance World Tour.”

Thi Vo, a representative of the organising board, stated that the organisers had fully paid Jason Derulo's performance fee. According to the contract, Jason was scheduled to arrive in Vietnam on June 26, but he kept postponing his arrival.

“Jason’s crew of about 30 people, mostly dancers, arrived in Vietnam on June 26,” Thi Vo told tienphong.vn. “Jason himself had initially informed us he would fly into Ho Chi Minh City on June 26. Later, he changed his arrival to June 27, scheduled to land at 2:55 PM. After that, he requested to move it again to June 28, with a flight expected at 10:55 AM. However, when our team went to pick him up, only two members of his management team showed up.”

Thi Vo went on to say that under the signed contract, the organisers had paid 100% of the performance fee in advance. All stage requirements, including sound and lighting, had been mutually agreed upon after a month of meetings. The organiers had also covered all equipment rental costs as requested by the artist.

The organisers offered an apology to the audience for the American artist’s absence from the event.

Despite his absence, the GAMA Music Racing Festival 2025 still took place as scheduled, featuring a lineup of Vietnamese performers. In addition to music, the festival included motorcycle racing, Go-Kart demonstrations, contemporary circus acts, the Graffiti – Pit Stop fashion show, and stage visual mapping displays.

Jason Derulo is a Grammy-nominated American singer, songwriter, dancer, and occasional actor. Of Haitian descent, he began writing songs at age eight and studied musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles.

The dynamic entertainer rose to global fame as a pop and R&B star, seamlessly blending music, dance, social media influence, and acting into his brand. From his chart-topping tracks to viral TikTok fame and international performances, he’s become one of today’s most recognisable and versatile artists.
