Int’l Student Media Arts Festival 2025 kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - The sixth International Student Media Arts Festival (ISMA 2025) opened at Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City, on July 25, featuring 121 works from 37 universities across eight countries.

ISMA 2025, the first of its kind in Vietnam, is expected to offer a vibrant space for creativity, education, and global youth dialogue in filmmaking. It reflects the growing intersection of art and technology, showcasing works that explore pressing global issues such as the environment, urbanisation, identity, and human existence.
The festival includes four main categories - Short Films, Animation Art, Interactive Art, and AI Narrative, with the latter two earning praise for their innovative and emotionally rich storytelling.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, rector of Van Lang University, highlighted the festival’s global reach, saying the participation of more than 30 professors and experts, and more than 50 international students demonstrates the powerful cross-border connection between art and education.
The submitted works focus on the evolving relationship between humans and nature in a globalized world, as well as the transformation of creative storytelling through artificial intelligence and new technologies.
People’s Artist and film director Dao Ba Son, who represents Vietnam on the jury panel, noted that ISMA serves not only as a platform for emerging talents but also as a serious academic forum, where art becomes a tool for social reflection and critical thinking.
A major highlight of ISMA 2025 is the 72-Hour Workshop, where eight teams of international students will create short films in just three days, guided by international artists and professors throughout Ho Chi Minh City.
The festival also hosts an academic forum, gathering experts together from top universities to discuss the integration of AI and emerging technologies into arts education.
