First Vietnam Cultural Festival opens at Red Square, Russia

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Cultural Festival 2025, themed “Vietnam – Colours from the Tropics,” opened at Red Square in Moscow, Russia, on July 25, as part of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia (1950–2025).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalya Sergunina noted that the festival, the first of its kind, provides an excellent opportunity for Russian citizens to explore the richness of Vietnamese culture, arts, and cuisine. She expressed hope that the event would further boost tourism exchanges between the two countries.

First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council (Upper House) Andrey Yatskin highlighted the strong and deepening Vietnam–Russia partnership, recently reinforced by high-level talks and agreements, including the official visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam to Russia in May 2025.

Cultural events like this festival contribute significantly to enhancing mutual understanding and goodwill between the two countries, he said.

Madame Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of General Secretary To Lam, expressed her heartfelt sentiments, stating that hosting the festival at Red Square, the heart of Russia, was a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship and trust between the Vietnamese and Russian peoples.

“Culture is the bridge that connects us,” she remarked, saying that the event reflects a relationship that continues to evolve while preserving its historical depth.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi affirmed that the festival marks a cultural milestone following the recent successful meeting between the two countries’ leaders. He said he believes that the vibrant showcase of Vietnamese heritage, from music and cuisine to traditional crafts, will inspire more Russians to visit Vietnam.

The festival offers visitors a rich cultural experience, including water and puppet shows, traditional Vietnamese music and Ao Dai (long dress) performances, silk and lacquerware displays, and Vietnamese culinary demonstrations and tastings. There are also exhibitions of handicrafts and lacquer jewelry, and a photo exhibition on Vietnam, its land and people.

Following the opening, delegates toured the festival’s pavilions, enjoying the unique offerings and engaging with local visitors.

Running until August 3, 2025, the Vietnam Cultural Festival at Red Square has drawn significant attention from Russian citizens, the Vietnamese community in Russia, and local media. It serves not only as a celebration of cultural diplomacy but also as a vibrant symbol of the close and enduring ties between Vietnam and Russia.

The festival is jointly organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and the Government of Moscow.
