Digital art brings Korean folk paintings to life at Hanoi exhibition

VOV.VN - The digital art exhibition “Muôn loài quanh ta” (Nature and Creatures Around Us), which vividly recreates traditional Korean folk paintings (Minhwa) using modern media art, has opened at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi, offering visitors a multi-sensory experience.

Running from October 20 as part of the "Korea Season 2026" program, the exhibition also marks the 20th founding anniversary of the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam. The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), and the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam.

In her opening speech, Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation under Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, highly appreciated the Korean Cultural Center's role in policy exchanges, seminars, forums, and the promotion of cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.

For her part, Park Chan A, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, expressed hope that the wishes for peace and prosperity embedded in traditional Korean art will reach the hearts of Vietnamese audiences, helping the peoples of both nations deepen their mutual understanding and share fine sentiments.

Attendees at the opening ceremony had the opportunity to directly explore the exhibition space, where familiar motifs from traditional folk art are brought to life through advanced visual technologies and motion effects. Visitors can also directly participate in painting Minhwa folk artworks on the ground floor of the museum.

Despite cultural differences, Vietnam and the RoK share a close affinity with nature and a mutual aspiration for a peaceful life, serving as a foundation for deep empathy between the publics of both countries.

Transpiring through November 29, the exhibition serves as a venue for the public to experience Korean culture, thereby promoting bilateral friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchange.
