Da Nang unveils string of diverse cultural events through New Year

VOV.VN - The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center announced on October 27 a comprehensive series of cultural, artistic, and festival activities running from late October 2026 through early January 2027 across Da Nang, Hoi An Ancient Town, and the My Son Sanctuary.

The festival highlights include the Hoi An International Lantern Festival, themed "Hoi An - Colors of Heritage," slated for December 3-6, 2026.

The four-day event around Hoai River Square, An Hoi Sculpture Garden, and the ancient town's pedestrian streets, features lantern art installations, craft workshops, culinary experiences, and folk performances.

Preceding the lantern festival, a cultural heritage series will run from November 20 to December 5 in Hoi An to commemorate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day. The event marks 27 years since UNESCO designated Hoi An Ancient Town as a World Cultural Heritage site and 40 years of local heritage conservation efforts.

The series includes a national scientific workshop on the Hoi An trade port town in Quang Nam's 555-year history, exhibitions of heritage documents, Han-Nom inscriptions, and a thematic display titled "Ancient Space." The program also  covers the inauguration of the restored Hoi An Prison relic.

Additionally, the Great National Unity Cultural Week 2026 will take place from November 18 to 24 across multiple venues, including Tien Son Sports Complex, Hoi An, and My Son. The event features traditional folk singing, dances, ethnic costumes, traditional crafts, and indigenous games.

At the My Son Sanctuary, the periodic performance program "Echoes of My Son" is scheduled for November 15 and December 15 at tower groups B and C, depicting traditional Cham folk dances and rituals.

To welcome 2027, a New Year Festival will take place from December 30, 2026, to January 3, 2027, along Bach Dang Pedestrian Street, the Dragon Bridge area, and neighboring districts. The celebration includes street art performances, food zones, interactive spaces, and a New Year countdown program.

The extended event series aims to diversify local tourism products, promote cultural and heritage values, and provide visitors with diverse recreational choices during the year-end holiday season.
