Hoi An to host first-ever International Lantern Festival 2026
VOV.VN - The Da Nang City People's Committee has issued a plan to organize the Hoi An International Lantern Festival 2026, themed "Hoi An - Colors of Heritage."
The festival will take place from December 3 to 6 at Hoai River Square, An Hoi Sculpture Garden, along the Hoai River, and across various streets in the ancient town. Meanwhile, the display space for artistic lantern works is expected to be maintained through the 2027 First Full Moon Festival.
During the four-day event, there will a broad array of prominent activities, including opening ceremonies combining art performances on land and water, an installation space with 15 large-scale artistic lantern clusters, lantern-making experience zones, and culinary spaces offering authentic local flavors.
The program also incorporates exhibitions of recycled art lanterns, heritage-themed art performances, nighttime floating lantern processions, seminars on Hoi An traditional crafts, alongside photography and lantern pattern design contests.
Additionally, the city administration unveiled a plan to hold the Hoi An Creative Week 2026 with the theme "Journey to Heritage and Creativity."
Scheduled from August 28 to September 2, this event spans Hoai River Square, An Hoi Sculpture Garden, the ancient town, as well as craft villages and creative spaces across local wards and communes.
Within the event framework, diverse activities will be launched, including an opening ceremony marked by the release of the Hoi An Creative Map, a digital platform introducing the local creative ecosystem. Other highlights comprise the "Village Art" seminar series, digital transformation training programs for craft villages, exhibitions, art installation spaces, creative workshops, and AI technology experience zones for children.
The week further offers a series of art performances connecting local artistic heritage and an interactive GPS challenge.
