Art-political programme chronicles Vietnam’s 80-year legacy
VOV.VN - A special art-political television programme titled Golden Opportunity will be broadcast live at 8:10 p.m. on August 22 on Vietnam Television, highlighting the country’s remarkable 80-year journey toward independence, unity, and national development.

The event will be broadcast as a live telecast connecting the Hanoi Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Square in Hue, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, as part of activities to mark Vietnam’s 80th National Day (September 2). It is directed by the Party Central Commission for Information & Education and Mass Mobilization, and coordinated by Vietnam Television alongside local authorities in Hanoi, Hue, and HCM City.
Inspired by President Ho Chi Minh’s poem “Learning to Play Chess”, the programme will take audiences back to the 1940s, when the Communist Party and President Ho Chi Minh seized a “golden opportunity” to lead Vietnam nation into a new era of independence and socialism.
The 80-year path, from revolution and reunification to the reform period, is brought to life through historical witness accounts and large-scale artistic staging.
Each broadcast site will feature an elaborately designed stage, combining cutting-edge 3D mapping, multi-dimensional visuals, and powerful historical reenactments of the August 1945 Uprising and other pivotal moments.
The programme will feature a range of artistic performances. Singer Ha Anh Tuan will debut a new song dedicated to the Fatherland, while a lineup of renowned artists namely My Linh, Dang Duong, Trong Tan, Quoc Thien, Pham Thu Ha, and others will perform iconic revolutionary songs.
A highlight of the evening will be an excerpt from Luu Quang Vu’s seminal play I and We, marking its return to the stage 40 years after its debut. Poet Nguyen Khoa Diem will recite Dat Nuoc (Country), one of his most heartfelt works.
In addition to artistic performances, the programme will feature conversations with historical witnesses and young citizens, emphasising the message “Opportunities must be created by the people themselves.”
This combination of music, theater, history, and technology aims to honour Vietnam’s revolutionary legacy and inspire national pride and aspirations for a prosperous, future-ready Vietnam.
