The first sporting event held was a ping-pong tournament in Bulgaria on June 8. More than 100 athletes competed with over 200 supporters in attendance from seven different countries including Germany, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
Upon addressing spectators and participants at the tournament, Doan Tuan Linh, the Vietnamese ambassador to Bulgaria, said that sporting exchange activities were of great significance and helped to boost solidarity among Vietnamese expats currently living in Europe.
He hoped that the tournament will become an annual feature and help to integrate the Overseas Vietnamese community.
The following day on June 9 the seventh edition of an annual badminton tournament took place in Warsaw, Poland.
Approximately 200 athletes from 13 clubs from afar afield as Austria, Britain, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland competed in singles and doubles in a variety of different age groups.
