Aside from the Vietnamese team, this year’s competition will see the participation of five other foreign teams, including Altay of Kazakhstan, Fujian of China, NEC of Japan, a team from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the National Taipei University of China, and the Australian national team.
The draw has seen Vietnam placed in Group A alongside Kazakhstan and China. The remaining teams have been drawn into Group B.
The teams will compete in a round-robin format with the first placed teams in each group progressing straight to the semifinals. The second placed team from Group A will compete against the third placed team in Group B in the tournament’s first quarterfinal. The second placed team from Group B will then take on the third placed team in Group A in the competition’s second quarterfinals.
The semifinals will see the winning team from the first quarterfinals face off against the first placed team from Group B, while the first placed team from Group A will play the winning team from the tournament’s second quarterfinals.
For the Vietnamese volleyball team, they consider the competition to be a warm-up in preparation for the SEA Games 30.
Vietnam’s first fixture will be against The National Taipei University of China at 20:00 on August 3.
All of the tournament’s matches offer free entry.
