The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the decision was relayed to the Cambodian and Laotian embassies based in Vietnam, noting that the country is hopeful of co-operating further with the governments of both nations whilst looking to work closely with regional partners in the fight against the COVID-19.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that in recent days, countries and territories throughout the region and around the world have taken a number of drastic measures, such as the closure of borders, aimed at curbing the spread of the epidemic.
The move comes after Cambodia temporarily suspended entry for Vietnamese citizens on March 20, while Laos has also halted entry for individuals attempting to pass through their international border gates between March 30 and April 19.
Indeed, the Laotian government sealed all of the main and sub-border gates located on its border with Vietnam on March 19, with the situation likely to remain this way until at least April 20.
