Major drug trafficking ring busted in HCM City

VOV.VN -Ho Chi Minh City police said on November 20 that they have cracked a major drug trafficking ring, seizing a large quantity of drugs.

The suspects are Nguyen Nhat Truong, 32, and Pham Duy Minh, 39, residing in the city.

The suspects have been under police surveillance for a long time. In mid-November, Truong came to Minh’s apartment, located at Binh Hung commune, Binh Chanh district, to buy drugs.

However, Truong was tracked and arrested by police when he was driving home in Go Vap district.

Searching his car the police discovered 1 kg of methamphetamine, VND120 million, and other related items.

Meanwhile, Minh was caught red-handed at the apartment’s elevator when he was carrying a kg of methamphetamine, VND300 million, and several mobile phones.

Searching Minh’s apartment, the police confiscated over 35 kg of different types of drug hidden in tea and candy bags, more than 20,000 ecstasy pills, over VND400 million, a cash register and three cars.

This is the largest drug trafficking ring Ho Chi Minh City police have cracked since early this year. They seized a total of nearly 40 kg of drugs, worth billions of Vietnam dong.

A further investigation is underway.
