The information was released by Nguyen Ha Loc, head of the Lam Dong Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue.
Loc said that a serious landslide had occurred at a section of National Highway 20 that runs through Bao Loc city and Da Huoai district, throwing two cars from the mountain pass into abyss. Due to the impact of the landslide, rocks blocked the road, leading to traffic jams for more than six hours.
According to initial reports, a 50-seater passenger bus and a 7-seater car were travelling on the road when they were suddenly thrown from the mountainous highway by falling rocks and boulders.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident and the injured victims were quickly taken to Lam Dong General Hospital by local people at the scene.
The landslide caused severe traffic disruption across many sections of the Bao Loc pass, leading to severe congestion that snaked back for dozens of kilometres.
The relevant forces in Lam Dong province immediately rushed to scene following the incident and made great strides to clear the road. In addition, they examined high risk areas in a bid to warn drivers about the possible dangers of travelling on National Highway 20.
