Astronomer Dang Vu Tuan Son, VACA president, said sky gazers will be able to see as many as 50 meteors pass every hour at the peak of the shower through the night of January 3 and into the early morning of January 4.
He advised that the best time to watch the Quadrantids meteor shower will be around 2am on the morning of January 4.
Experts recommend that star gazers find a spot away from the lights of the city and high-rise buildings to give themselves the best chance of seeing the Quadrantids meteor shower.
A disadvantage for viewers in Vietnam is that the meteor shower will take place on November 18 of the lunar month calendar and strong moonlight will obscure the meteors. In the northern region, weather conditions are forecast to be cloudy, lessening the chances of viewers to see a spectacular meteor display.
