COVID-19: Vietnam records no new infections with one more recovery

VOV.VN - April 30 marked the 14th day in a row the country reported no new COVID-19 infections while one more patient was declared to have completely recovered from the novel coronavirus, said the Ministry of Health.

The recovered patient, the nation’s 268th confirmed case is a H’Mong ethnic minority girl in Dong Van district’s Pho La commune. She was released from the Dong Van General Hospital in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang and will be placed into isolation and under health observation for the subsequent 14 days. Currently, the patient's health condition is stable with no fever, no cough, and no shortness of breath.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, of the 270 patients recorded so far, 219 have been discharged from hospital and 51 are receiving treatment. Of the latter, 14 have tested negative at least once.

Meanwhile, patient 92- a foreign student returning from France- was said to return to positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus. The patient was treated at the Cu Chi field hospital on April 14 and was discharged after making a full recovery. He continued to undergo isolation and health monitoring at home. The man is the fourth relapse case in Ho Chi Minh City, taking the country's total number of relapses following hospital discharge to 12.

Currently, the patient is admitted to Cu Chi field hospital for necessary isolation and treatment after he retested positive for the virus on April 29.

To date, a total of 34,836 people having close contact with confirmed patients or coming from pandemic-hit regions have been in quarantine throughout the nation, including 316 at hospitals, 6,700 at concentrated quarantine sites and more 27,800 at home or places of residence.

Vietnam is currently ranked 126th among a total of 210 nations globally that have infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
