Vietnam seen as one of leading partners in SEA

VOV.VN - South Africa regards Vietnam one of leading partners in Southeast Asia and push ahead with greater efforts to promote the bilateral ties to a higher level in the time ahead, said Deputy Foreign Minister Candith Mashego-Dlamini at a reception on January 27 for outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Vu Van Dung who came to bid adieu to the ministry’s leaders.

South Africa places importance on developing ties with Vietnam, and is ready with Vietnam to effectively realize common perceptions of the countries’ senior leaders, the Deputy FM said while affirming his nation’s desire to expand cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism, science-technology, culture and education, and strengthen people-to-people exchange.

There is great potential for stronger cooperation between the two nations, especially in trade, investment and tourism, she said whist expressing her confidence that the Vietnamese diplomat continues making further contributions to fostering ties between South Africa and Vietnam.

Ambassador Dung suggested both nations should continue bolstering cooperation at multilateral forums as they are shouldering the role of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council in 2020. Besides, South Africa is the Chair of the African Union (AU) and Vietnam serves as the Chair of ASEAN this year.

Vietnam sticks importance to promoting ties with South Africa – the only nation in Africa that Vietnam has set up the partnership for cooperation and development, Dung said.
