At the meeting, Hue noted that relations between Vietnam and the US have developed substantially in recent times, especially in the fields of trade and investment.
He thanked the US Government for providing medical support to Vietnam’s COVID-19 prevention as well as in the healthcare sector, though it is still struggling to combat the pandemic in the country. Hue said he hopes the United States will overcome the pandemic soon.
The Hanoi Party leader briefed his guest on the capital’s economic achievements in the first six months of 2020, saying the capital has taken measures to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and its economy is getting back on track.
He told his guest multifaceted cooperation between Hanoi and US localities is developing well, and expressed his wish that this relationship will be further strengthened in the near future.
Hanoi city always creates favorable conditions for US firms to invest and do business efficiently in the city, Hue assured the US diplomat.
For his part, US Ambassador Krenenbrink singled out economic and trade ties between the two countries as a key pillar in bilateral relations and Hanoi plays an important role in promoting such cooperation.
The Ambassador thanked the Hanoi government and people for donating 150,000 masks to the United States to support its COVID-19 prevention, stressing this is a symbol of friendship between the two sides. He said he believes that the bilateral relationship will further grow in the future.
