Located in Bat Xat and Sa Pa districts in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, the 29.7 MW plant was built at a cost of US$50 million invested by Infraco Asia, a Singaporean-based company.

All the three turbines of the plant were connected to the national grid on April 29, expected to contribute 120 million kWh of electricity annually. The plant is offering 130,000 locals access to sustainable power at affordable costs.

Vietnam’s demand for electricity grows about 15% on an annual average, with hydropower accounting for 44% of the national electricity output.
