UN Secretary General warns of increasing IS influence in Libya

VOV.VN - Islamic State (IS) is expanding its influence in and outside Libya, UN Secretary General of Ban Ki-moon said on March 5 in Mauritania as part of his tour of West and North Africa.

He said the future of war-torn Libya and Sahel region are facing terrifying threats from IS. He said the delay of resolving the Libyan issues will worsen the humanitarian crisis and called for the establishment of a Libyan national unity government.
Last month, Libya’s presidential council proposed an 18-member national unity government under the UN-backed Libya Political Agreement. The first proposed 32-member cabinet was rejected due to the large number of ministers.
