Malaysia takes measures to cope with Bersih rally in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysian police will block 58 streets at 10 major areas in Kuala Lumpur from 7am on the morning of November 19 to cope with the planned rally of the Bersih movement.
In order to ensure traffic, residents will be directed towards roads bypassing these areas.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Amar Singh said the decision aims to prevent potential conflicts between different rally groups.
According to Amar, besides Bersih supporters wearing yellow shirts and red shirts, other two groups wearing white and black shirts are also likely to take to the street. Those groups also planned to gather at the same place and time with the Bersih 5.0 rally.
Amar said that the police had warned groups against gatherings but they still persist with their plans.
The police have asked people not to participate in the protest and have drawn up plans for deploying forces to ensure security and order.
