Vietravel Airlines launches first flight connecting Nha Trang to Muan in RoK
VOV.VN - Vietravel Airlines officially conducted its first flight on September 29 connecting Nha Trang in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa to Muan in the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The flight is part of a series of charter flights operated by the carrier in co-ordination with its partners. The flight numbered VU1331 departed from Muan International Airport and landed at Cam Ranh International Airport on the afternoon of September 29, carrying with it a total of 208 passengers on board.
This marks the second time that Vietravel Airlines has expanded its flight network to the RoK’s tourism cities, following the success of a series of charter flights connecting Nha Trang to Daegu in March.
A representative of Vietravel Airlines emphasised that the successful implementation of charter flights to the RoK has created fresh opportunities to elevate the airline's image to the potential market, whilst also providing a basis for putting the regular commercial flight into operation soon.
Vietnam aims to welcome about eight million international visitors this year. According to figures compiled by the General Statistics Office (GSO), the country received more than 7.8 million visitors during the eight-month period, duly fulfilling 98% of the set plan for the year.
The RoK continues to be the nation’s largest international tourism market with 2.2 million visitors, accounting for 29% of total visitors.
Earlier the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) and the Korea Tourism Organisation of the Republic of Korea (KTO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hanoi aimed at bolstering tourism links between the two sides.
Recently, citizens of 13 countries, including the RoK, which are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam will be granted temporary residence for 45 days, up from the previous figure of 15 days.
These moves are expected to provide a basis for both travel companies and domestic airlines to further develop their products and services. As of August, Vietravel Airlines has successfully operated charter flights connecting Nha Trang with Daegu of the RoK and Macau (China), along with Hanoi to Sanya of China.
