Vietravel Airlines to receive fifth aircraft in September

VOV.VN - Vietravel Airlines, a member of Vietravel Corporation, will lease an Airbus A320 from Cambodia Airways as part of efforts to increase its fleet size to five by September.

A document to this effect was signed on August 12 between a representative of Vietravel Airlines' Board of Directors and leaders of Cambodia Airways.

Under the lease agreement, the new aircraft is expected to be received and subsequently put into use in September following the technical team’s assessments meeting with the regulations set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

The airline’s representative also revealed that the firm has devised plans to lease three additional aircraft from Cambodia Airways by the end of December in a bid to expand its flight network, meeting the high travel demand among passengers during the peak season in the upcoming Lunar New Year festival.

The signing of the agreement has played an important role in launching additional air routes which serve to connect famous tourism destinations in both Vietnam and Cambodia, contributing to the overall tourism and economic development of two countries, said the representative.

According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam welcomed more than 167,000 Cambodian tourists during the initial five months of 2023, accounting for 3.63% of the total international arrivals. In addition, the country is also among the leading markets supplying a stable supply of visitors to Cambodia.

By the end of July, Vietravel Airlines transported more than 600,000 passengers, including 114,566 foreigner. In September, the airline is scheduled to implement a series of charter flights connecting Hanoi and Sanya in China.
