Vietnamese water spinach named among world's Top 100 vegetable dishes

VOV.VN - Rau muống xào tỏi, a morning glory (water spinach) stir-fry with garlic, has been named among the world’s Top 100 vegetable dishes, as compiled by international food website TasteAtlas.

Accordingly, the dish ranked 24th in the list.

TasteAtlas shared that Rau muống xào tỏi is a traditional dish that's suitable for vegetarians. The delicacy is made with a combination of morning glory, garlic, fish sauce, salt, sugar, and oyster sauce.

“The water spinach is blanched, then stir-fried with garlic, salt, and sugar, while the fish sauce is added near the end of cooking,” it revealed.

This vegetable dish is served hot, usually as a part of a three-course meal, the first is a stir-fry, the second course is a boiled or steamed dish, and the third course is a soup. “Rau muống xào tỏi also makes for a great accompaniment to white rice,” it suggested.

The first place in the list went to Parmigiana of Italy, a baked eggplant dish layered with tomato sauce and cheese.

This was followed by Fritto misto and Parmigiana alla napoletana of Italy, Sopa Tarasca of Mexico, Diri ak pwa of Haiti, Dal tadka of India, Yemista of Greece, Feijão tropeiro of Brazil, and Malai kofta of India.

The rankings were based on a total of 18,878 user ratings, with 10,667 confirmed as valid by the TasteAtlas system.
