TasteAtlas names Vietnamese turmeric fish among best Asian dishes
VOV.VN - Vietnamese turmeric fish with dill and noodles (Chả cá Lã Vọng) has been officially recognised by international cuisine magazine TasteAtlas as being among the Top 100 Asian fish dishes.

The delicacy ranks second overall with a rating of 4.6 stars.
The traditional dish originating from Hanoi consists of grilled fish with turmeric and dill. In order to prepare it, firm white fish such as catfish, cod, or tilapia is usually marinated in shallots, galangal, turmeric, garlic, shrimp paste, fish sauce, and oil, the website wrote.
It is then grilled on both sides with dill and spring onions before being served with vermicelli noodles, roasted peanuts, and a dipping sauce consisting of lime juice, garlic, fish sauce, and sugar, it added.
TasteAtlas revealed that a secret meeting place had served grilled fish (chả cá), with the outside of the establishment having a statue of Lã Vọng, a famous poet and resistance fighter, which is where the name of the dish originates from.
The international cuisine magazine also listed other two local dishes, namely sweet and sour soup (Canh chua cá), and caramelised fish in clay pot (Cá kho tộ), which were placed at 15th and the 40th positions, respectively.
Rounding off the list of TasteAtlas’s five best Asian fish dishes were Unadon, Chutoro nigiri sushi, Maguro nigiri sushi, and Tekkadon, all of which hail from Japan.
Founded in 2015, TasteAtlas is an encyclopedia of flavours, a world atlas showcasing traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants.
