Vietnamese iced and egg coffee earn spots in Southeast Asia’s top drinks

VOV.VN - Vietnamese iced coffee, traditional coffee, and egg coffee have been recognized by international food website TasteAtlas among Southeast Asia’s Top 62 beverages, highlighting the country’s rich coffee culture.

Topping the list, Vietnamese iced coffee blends strong coffee with condensed milk and ice. Traditionally, it is made with medium or coarse ground Vietnamese coffee, typically Robusta, brewed using a phin filter that slowly drips the coffee into a cup. Vietnamese coffee and egg coffee ranked sixth and eighth, respectively.

Although introduced by French colonists in the mid-19th century, coffee quickly became a central part of daily life in Vietnam. Today, the country is one of the world’s largest coffee producers and the leading producer and exporter of Robusta coffee.

TasteAtlas also features other Vietnamese beverages, including bubble tea (Trà sữa trân châu), lotus tea (Trà sen), and Vietnamese yogurt coffee (Sữa chua cà phê), ranking fifth, twelfth, and twenty-third on the Southeast Asian list.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, TasteAtlas is known for its global map of traditional dishes. Rankings are based on culinary experts’ reviews and user feedback, ensuring reliability and reflecting international recognition of Vietnam’s coffee culture.
