The UK is a large source market for Vietnam’s tourism sector. Tourists from this country tend to stay long and spend a lot on tourism services in Vietnam.
The Tourism Advisory Council, with leading experts in the tourism sector, including managers of hotels and travel companies and the chairmen of tourism associations, will help roll out the plan.
In addition, another tourism promotion office has been planned in Australia, Duc said.
Late last month, the first Vietnam tourism promotion office abroad was opened in the Republic of Korea, the second largest source market for Vietnam’s tourism sector. The office was established by Vietnam Tourism Ambassador Lee Chan Kun and uses private resources.
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam welcomed nearly 8.5 million foreign tourists in the first half of the year, up 7.5% year-on-year. The sector generated VND338.2 trillion (US$14.5 billion) in revenue, up 8.4% over the same period last year.
This year, the sector expects to serve 17.5-18 million international visitors and 85 million domestic tourists, earning some VND700 trillion.
