Vietnam sees sharp increase in Chinese tourists during Tet
VOV.VN - The latest data released by digital travel platform Agoda has revealed that the number of searches from China for Vietnam during the Lunar New Year almost entirely recovered to pre-COVID-19 level, reaching 95% compared to figures from 2020.
Agoda also noted that this year, Ho Chi Minh City was the most searched city by Chinese tourists, followed by Hanoi, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc.
Vu Ngoc Lam, country director of Vietnam at Agoda, quoted the statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism as sayings that in 2019, Chinese nationals represented the nation’s largest source of travelers, thereby accounting for almost a third of total travelers coming into the country.
Lam said the return of Chinese tourists' interest shows bright prospects ahead for the Vietnamese tourism sector, adding that the country is also to be commended on its ability to widen its appeal to alternate origin markets, such as India and the Republic of Korea, in the years since reopening with favourable visa restrictions.
According to Agoda, Chinese tourists choose Vietnam because of its rich culture and beautiful natural landscape.
