Vietnam registers for Best Tourism Villages Award 2024
VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has asked local tourism management departments to invite tourist villages to register for the fourth version of the Best Tourism Villages Awards.
This year’s awards will see eight Vietnamese tourist villages selected by VNAT to compete at the global competition.
Launched back in 2021 by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the Best Tourism Village Awards recognises rural destinations that embrace tourism as a driver for the cause of development and fresh opportunities for jobs and income, while simultaneously preserving and promoting community-based values and products.
The award also acknowledges villages for their commitment to innovation and sustainability across all spheres, including economics, social affairs, and the environment, with a specific focus on developing tourism in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At present, a total of 130 villages of UNWTO member countries have been awarded the title.
Thai Hai village in the northern province of Thai Nguyen and Tan Hoa Village in the central province of Quang Binh were honoured with the "Best Tourism Villages" title in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
