Vietnamese village named among world’s best tourism villages
VOV.VN - Tan Hoa in the central province of Quang Binh was voted among the best tourism villages globally as announced on October 19 by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in its 25th General Assembly session in Uzbekistan.
This is the second time a Vietnamese village has been listed among the world’s best tourism villages as selected by the UNWTO since its debut version in 2021.
In 2022 Thai Hai village, located in the north of Thai Nguyen province, was the only Southeast Asian representative to make the international list.
Tan Hoa, a mountainous commune situated in Minh Hoa district, is blessed with an array of breathtaking natural landscapes and special cultural identities.
Over recent years local residents have engaged in a range of tourism activities to help reduce poverty in a sustainable manner. With support from businesses, Tan Hoa has become a weather-adaptive tourism village that boasts plenty of unique and typical tourism products.
According to the UNWTO, the award recognises rural destinations that embrace tourism as a driver for the cause of development and new opportunities for jobs and income, while simultaneously preserving and promoting community-based values and products.
The award also acknowledges villages for their commitment to innovation and sustainability across many aspects, including economy, social affairs, and the environment, with a specific focus on developing tourism in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
