Vietnam, Japan remain top choices for RoK travelers during Chuseok holiday
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Japan continue to be the most popular destinations for travelers from the Republic of Korea (RoK) during the Chuseok holiday, according to a travel trend analysis released by RoK’s Nol Universe on September 19.

Nol Universe, which aggregates data from NOL, NOL Interpark Tour, and Triple Reservation, analyzed domestic and international travel trends ahead of Chuseok, regarded as the “October Golden Week.”
This year’s holiday spans 10 days, from October 3 to 12. The analysis shows a 37% increase in international travel bookings compared with the same period last year. Popular destinations in Japan include Osaka, Fukuoka, and Narita, with the Osaka Nankai Rapi:t Limited Express train seeing the highest number of bookings.
In Vietnam, package tours remain favored. Five-day trips to Da Nang, Hoi An, and Phu Quoc are the most popular, while “sleeper bus” services connecting Hanoi and Sapa rank second in tour bookings and activities.
The analysis also indicates that Japan and Vietnam lead in overseas accommodation bookings.
Other destinations are seeing increased interest as well. Taiwan ranks third in overseas accommodation bookings, with flights to Taipei up 78% year-on-year. Bookings in the US rose 2.3 times, placing it fourth, while bookings for the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe surged 105% and 809% respectively, indicating a strong rebound in long-haul travel demand.
Domestic accommodation bookings surged 65% year-on-year. Gangwon province retains the top spot, accounting for 18% of total domestic bookings, while South Jeolla and North Gyeongsang provinces saw respective increases of 131% and 124%.
A Nol Universe representative said this year’s “October Golden Week” again highlighted travelers from the RoK’s preference for Japan and Vietnam. Domestically, eco-friendly accommodation is trending. The diversity of destinations and lodging options has broadened consumer choice.
