Vietnam and Poland ramp up tourism, sports cooperation

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ho An Phong held a meeting with Polish Secretary of State for Sport and Tourism Piotr Borys on June 23 in Warsaw to step up cooperation in tourism and sports between the two countries.

The meeting was held as part of a broader programme to promote Vietnamese tourism in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany in 2025.

Addressing the meeting, Phong emphasised the long-standing, 75-year friendship between Vietnam and Poland, reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to developing the Polish tourism market. He noted that the Government’s Resolution No. 11, which grants visa exemptions of up to 45 days for tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland, has contributed to a noticeable rise in tourist arrivals from these countries.

Phong expressed confidence in the strong potential for increased cooperation in tourism and sports between Vietnam and Poland. He outlined plans to boost tourist exchanges, establish direct flight connections between major cities, and facilitate information-sharing between tourism enterprises. He also advocated for more high-level delegation exchanges to promote mutual understanding and address challenges in bilateral cooperation.

In the realm of sports, Phong expressed interest in partnering with Poland on training and the exchange of coaches and athletes, particularly in disciplines where Poland excels, such as volleyball, martial arts, kickboxing, football, skiing, and other winter sports.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister extended an invitation to Polish officials to attend the 19th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair (ITE HCMC 2025), slated for this September. He voiced his belief that enhanced cooperation would help elevate the tourism relationship between the two countries.

Borys, for his part, welcomed Vietnam as a close and friendly partner, describing it as an increasingly attractive destination for Southeast Asian tourism. He acknowledged the growing interest of Polish businesses in investing in Vietnam and expressed hope for more frequent exchanges between tourism enterprises from both countries.

He said he would encourage Polish tourism companies to engage in ITE HCMC 2025, and hoped the two sides would accelerate the signing of tourism and sports cooperation documents, which could open up new opportunities to build ties in the future.

Meanwhile, Ha Van Sieu, deputy director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, highlighted the untapped potential for collaboration between Vietnamese and Polish tourism firms. He stressed that the signing of a formal cooperation agreement between the two ministries would lay a strong foundation for long-term tourism development and partnership.
