Vietnam Airlines marks 10 years of Vietnam – UK direct flight service
VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier of Vietnam, recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its direct flight service connecting Vietnam and the United Kingdom.

The ceremony, held at London Heathrow Airport, was attended by representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, Heathrow Airport authorities, ground service provider ASC, aviation partners, and loyal passengers who have supported Vietnam Airlines on this route.
Over the past 10 years, Vietnam Airlines has operated nearly 5,000 direct flights between Vietnam and the UK, serving approximately 1.1 million passengers with an average seat occupancy rate of 80%.
The direct route has significantly elevated Vietnam’s position in global aviation, helping to facilitate bilateral trade and tourism cooperation. It serves as a crucial bridge between the two countries and marks a milestone in Vietnam Airlines' 30-year journey of growth and development.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines operates direct flights to London Heathrow using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The Hanoi-London (HAN-LHR) route runs four round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while the Ho Chi Minh City-London (SGN-LHR) route operates three round-trip flights weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Recognizing the UK as a key market in Europe, Vietnam Airlines is committed to expanding its network, enhancing service quality, and increasing the frequency of direct flights between Vietnam and the UK to seven flights per week from April to October each year.
Vietnam Airlines first launched direct flights to the UK in 2011, initially serving London Gatwick Airport (LGW) before transitioning to London Heathrow (LHR) in 2015, to ensure greater accessibility to the UK’s premier international gateway.
