VietJet announces Singapore – Phu Quoc direct air route
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s budget airline, VietJet Air, announced a direct flight route between Phu Quoc, a famous island resort in southern Vietnam, and Singapore at a ceremony held in Singapore on March 11.
The ceremony was attended by Party General Secretary To Lam who arrived there on March 11 for an official visit to Singapore.
The new air route between Phu Quoc and Singapore will be launched on May 30, 2025, with four flights per week, bringing the total number of weekly flights between Vietnam and Singapore to 78. The route is expected to serve over half a million passengers annually.
This will be the fourth route connecting Singapore with Vietnam, following flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. It will not only boost tourism but also enhance economic, trade, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The same day, VietJet also revealed the signing of a US$300 million aircraft financing agreement with Carlyle Aviation Partners, to support aircraft purchases for deliveries in the 2025-2026 period. This agreement represents a significant step in the airline’s plan to develop a modern fleet and fulfill its order of over 400 new aircraft.
In addition, Vietjet Air signed a cooperation agreement with Satair, a subsidiary of Airbus, to utilize Integrated Material Services (IMS), a comprehensive material supply solution for the airline’s Airbus A320 and A330 fleet.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet Air, emphasized that Vietjet Air is not just an airline but also a driver of economic trade, investment, education, and culture.
This event follows the airline’s commitment to cooperation with UNESCO, reaffirming Vietjet Air’s role in economic development linked to the preservation of the cultural values of each nation and ethnicity, she said.
In her opinion, Vietjet Air and its Singaporean partners, with annual revenues reaching billions of dollars, are promoting cooperation in finance, trade, and innovation, aiming for a sustainable and mutually beneficial future.
Currently, Vietjet Air operates more than 115 aircraft and has served over 230 million passengers.
