US media lists 5 reasons foreign travelers flock to Vietnam

VOV.VN - A US-based travel website, Travel Off Path, has highlighted five key reasons why Vietnam continues to attract international visitors, from its rich cultural heritage to stunning natural landscapes.

The website revealed that Vietnam has gradually risen to remarkable international popularity. The first reason, according to Travel Off Path, is that Vietnam boasts a treasure trove of historical wonders.

“The draw of this gorgeous Southeast Asian country goes way beyond its incredible landscapes,” it stressed.

It also pointed out that Vietnam’s history is complex, with layers of ancient traditions, colonial influences, and the enduring scars of war, all of which remain evident in the country’s architecture, cuisine, and daily customs.

The US website noted that the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An Ancient Town is among the first local attractions to make it onto any traveler’s itinerary, and for good reason. The town’s well-preserved architecture, reflecting all of the influences mentioned above, serves as a testament to Vietnam’s value as a cultural and historical gem.

Other must-visit sites include the Imperial City of Hue, a walled enclosure where visitors can step back in time and witness the grandeur of the Nguyen Dynasty; the Cu Chi Tunnels; and the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam is also recognized as a great-value destination. According to the website, excluding rent, consumer prices in Hanoi are 11.1% lower than in Kuala Lumpur, 16.6% lower than in Manila, 28% lower than in Bangkok, and 69.1% lower than in Singapore.

It added that digital nomads looking to take advantage of Vietnam’s newly extended tourist visa will be pleased to learn that rent prices follow the same favorable trend. Including housing costs in these comparisons makes the difference in overall consumer prices even more significant.

The third reason travelers flock to the country is its picture-perfect landscapes. Travel Off Path highlighted that from the towering limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay to the terraced rice fields of Sapa, the country’s scenic wonders remain unrivaled.

“Adventurous souls are drawn to the likes of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, the lush Mekong Delta, and the awe-inspiring Ban Gioc Waterfalls, all of which not only radiate a type of ethereal, pristine beauty but also offer abundant opportunities for adrenaline-pumping activities,” it added.

Finally, the only aspect of Vietnamese culture that rivals the mesmerising scenery is the local cuisine, which is absolutely delicious.

“Dishes here are what you could only describe as a feast for the senses, boasting vibrant flavors, fresh ingredients, and that perfect balance between sweet, sour, salty, and umami”, Travel Off Path shared.

Between the iconic pho and banh mi and lesser-known delicacies like bun cha and cao lau, according to the US outlet, Vietnam offers foodies the experience of a lifetime.

Last but not least, the legendary warmth and hospitality of the locals is what truly makes the experience stand out and keeps tourists coming back for more.

“No matter whether you’re exploring the chaotic streets of Hanoi or relaxing on the pristine beaches of Da Nang, you’re bound to come across (and feel mesmerized by) the genuine smiles and willingness to help from the Vietnamese people”, it concluded.
