Thunderstorms disrupt flights at Noi Bai Airport, causing diversions and delays

VOV.VN - Severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms, lightning, and strong crosswinds, disrupted operations at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on the afternoon of April 21, leading to multiple flight delays and diversions.

According to airport authorities, between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., unstable weather affected air traffic. Nine inbound flights were rerouted to nearby airports before returning to Noi Bai once conditions improved. Several departures were also temporarily delayed to ensure flight safety.

By 4:05 p.m., weather at the airport had stabilized, allowing takeoffs and landings to resume normally.

A representative from Noi Bai International Airport apologized for the inconvenience caused by the weather-related disruptions, affirming that passenger safety remains the highest priority.

Earlier in the evening, passengers at other airports, including Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Bai in Hue, also reported extended delays, with some flights postponed by up to 10 hours. There were additional complaints about lost baggage during the disruptions.
